Unit 1 / 3

Preparation Before Installation

Gains:

  • Can list the things that need to be checked before installation
  • Can foresee the source of delays in the field
  • Can clearly communicate customer responsibilities

Most of the delays in field assembly occur not on site, but before arriving on site. If the preparation list is followed completely, installation time becomes predictable.

Check before going to the field

  • Is the building ready: floor heights, floor levels, installation clearances.
  • Have foundation and anchorage plans been implemented?
  • Is there crane/forklift access and load capacity?
  • Is the electricity main supply and temporary construction site energy ready?
  • Has the entire shipment arrived at the site and has it been checked for damage?
  • Have customs procedures been completed?
  • Have local workforce and occupational safety regulations been planned?

Customer responsibilities

Some of these are the responsibility of the customer and are written in the contract. However, just because it is in writing does not guarantee that it will be done; It is established practice to request photographic confirmation before the installation team departs.

Arriving on site and saying "the building is not ready" means two weeks and a crew cost. It's five minutes to avoid this by asking for a photo.
