Mill automation does not mean operating machines unmanned. What it does is to carry out the constantly repeated cycle of measurement-comparison-correction faster and without tiring of the human. The decision is still up to the miller; automation implements and saves that decision.

  • Sequential operation of the wheat purchasing and cleaning line.
  • Adjustment of tempering water dosage according to humidity measurement.
  • Balancing the roller feed amount with level and current feedback.

Biggest gain: repeatability

A master can achieve perfect adjustment in one shift; The problem is that the same setting cannot be maintained the next shift. Automation turns the good setting into a recipe and applies it the same way every shift. Reduced quality fluctuation is more valuable than increased yield in most facilities.

Remember that automation cannot control what it cannot measure. An automation project whose sensor budget is reduced remains blind no matter how good the software is.
