Operator Training: Longevity of the Plant

Gains:

  • Can determine the scope of the training program
  • Can explain the consequences of untrained delivery
  • Can prepare training material with artificial intelligence

Even the best facility operates below target when operated incorrectly. Operator training is the final link that ensures the performance sold is realized in the field.

Scope of training

  • Process logic: which setting changes what.
  • Daily checks and record keeping.
  • Roll setting and shaving timing.
  • Screen cloth change and tension control.
  • Adaptation of the tempering recipe to wheat.
  • Malfunction symptoms and first intervention.
  • Occupational safety and food hygiene rules.

educational material

The material should be specific to the facility: not a general milling book, but short guides based on the flow chart and machinery of that facility. This is where AI comes in handy — it's fast to generate simplified text from existing technical documentation into operator language.

The produced material must be read and approved by the field engineer. A wrong instruction becomes permanent in the training material.

Do not leave the training until after delivery. Take the operator with you during commissioning: learning on the real machine, with the real problem, is the most permanent method.
